Greetings, fellow anglers and outdoor enthusiasts!  I’m Kevin Girolametto, a dedicated husband and proud father of three beautiful girls. By day, I navigate the streets as a postal worker, ensuring the timely delivery of packages and letters to their rightful destinations.

However, my story doesn’t end with the mail route; it unfolds by the serene waters where I passionately pursue the majestic carp.

In addition to my roles as a postal worker, I proudly wear the hats of a worker advocate, first aider, health and safety representative, and local union president. My commitment to the well-being of my colleagues extends beyond the workplace, reflecting in my active involvement as a team member of DT Baits Canada and an OPS member of the Canadian Carp Society (CCS).

Within the CCS, I take on the roles of managing the Mental Health and Leave No Trace groups, combining my advocacy for mental health with my commitment to preserving the beauty of our fishing areas. The CCS has provided a platform for me to not only promote mental health awareness but also champion environmental stewardship—a cause close to my heart.

Carp angling is more than a pastime for me; it’s a cornerstone of my life, playing a vital role in maintaining balance and harmony. Cooking and entertaining on the bank have become integral aspects of my angling experience. I find joy in fishing alone, savoring the tranquility, yet I am equally eager to welcome a large social gathering on the bank, sharing stories and laughter with fellow anglers. It’s through these connections that I’ve found a diverse community, uniting people from all walks of life who share the same passion for carp angling.

“The Mindful Angler” is a project that encapsulates my dedication to promoting mental well-being, environmental stewardship, and digital detox through the therapeutic lens of fishing. I am eager to showcase the diverse aspects of Canadian carp fishing that go beyond just catching big fish. Through this initiative, I aspire to explore the benefits that angling offers, inspire others to embrace the art of catch and release, foster a community of environmentally conscious anglers, raise awareness for mental health, support local charities, and ultimately, share my profound passion for carp angling with the world.

Come along for an exciting journey where we break free from stress, embrace the pleasures of fishing, and contribute to a world that values mental well-being, environmental responsibility, and the simple joys of life. Together, let’s make “The Mindful Angler” a source of inspiration and a catalyst for positive change in the world!

Testimonials

An amazing time

“Hey Kev G. Thanks for having me out today for a session. I had an amazing time learning from you. Thanks for showing me step by step on how to fish for carp properly and safely. That feeling reeling in the carp for my first time ever was such an incredible experience and I couldn’t have done it without your guidance. I hope to get out again soon with you! Also really loved seeing you pick up garbage that others had left in order to keep a clean environment. Thanks again!”

Above and beyond

“I had the privilege of having Kevin host a fishing experience for a person who I support with mental health challenges. Kevin's care and preparation were phenomenal. He was waiting for us when we arrived having stayed up the night prior to ensure that our day was successful, and most of all, fun. He taught us how to mix bait, set the hook, and cast. He broke down the fundamentals of carp fishing with so much enthusiasm. We spent the morning on the bank of the canal sharing stories. We enjoyed lunch together there. So many indelible memories. We are looking forward to future opportunities to book with The Mindful Angler, Kevin, once again. Cannot say enough about our day!”
